Care Cookin is another addition to our fitness system membership that will benefit our members in their pursuit of wholeness, spirit, soul, and body. Care Cookin encompasses looking at all aspects of an individual’s daily food consumption regimen, patterns, and habits. Eating healthily is complicated by our enjoyment of tasty, unhealthy foods; the misnomer is that healthy foods are bland. Often, we eat unhealthy foods when we are busy and don’t have time to cook. Sadly, it has become the norm, and this lifestyle is killing us.

Unfortunately, sometimes foods that taste good are not good for us. We now have a broad range of possibilities in preparing healthy, delicious foods. Preparing meals and eating food that give us optimal health is possible and can be done. It requires a reset on how we view our health, and often it necessitates looking deeply into one’s life. Occasionally eating too much is normal, as is eating for emotional reasons. People who compulsively overeat, however, may use food as their only way of coping with negative emotions.

Changing bad eating habits is hard, but it is possible and a choice one must make to reach optimal health. One of our nutrition coaches will assess each member to determine their eating habits. Once the assessment is complete, if emotional eating issues exist, a program will be designed to specifically address this issue. Achieving good habits that result in optimal health can result in weight loss and reduced cancer risk, diabetes prevention or management, heart health and stroke prevention, strong bones and teeth, better mood, improved memory, improved gut health, sound sleep, and influencing the health of the next generation.

A Nutrients for Success nutrition coach will perform an assessment of each member to determine their eating habits. Once the assessment is complete, if emotional eating issues exist, a program will be designed to specifically address out-of-control eating. Again, our goal is to assist our members in developing and practicing good habits that result in optimal health. The profits of a diet change can result in weight loss, reduced cancer risk, diabetes prevention or management, heart health and stroke prevention, strong bones and teeth, better mood, improved memory, improved gut health, sound sleep, and influencing the health of the next generation.

  • Increase your knowledge of food—Food is much more than just something that tastes good and fills your stomach. What you eat can heal, sicken, or even hurt you. Cooking your own meals can teach you what foods are high or low in certain vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. Preparing your foods will even boost your creativity as you learn to combine nutritious foods to satisfy your palate!
  • Savor your food—The physical act of preparing your own meals will lead to a newfound appreciation for the food you consume. This is crucial because mindless munching and emotional eating can contribute to unhealthy weight gain because you’re not fully conscious of the foods you’re eating. Being more aware of what you consume when you prepare it will make you less likely to overeat.
  • Eat appropriate portions—Restaurants are notorious for their extreme portion sizes, which may contribute to the vast overeating culture and obesity issue in America. In fact, a study conducted by the International Journal of Obesity found that providing nutrition labels on standard menus had little effect on food selection. Preparing meals at home gives you the ability to exercise portion control and help curb the temptation to overeat.
  • Build healthy habits—Cooking at home can jump-start your healthy lifestyle! By discovering healthy recipes, learning about food, and creating and sticking to a meal plan, you and your family can be inspired to live a healthy, fit life.
  • Encourage family bonding—Family dynamics can significantly improve with more at-home, family mealtimes. Children greatly benefit from the ritual of preparing and eating meals together. This is also an exceptional teaching tool for parents to instill healthy eating habits in their children. In fact, several studies by the University of Michigan found eating family meals at the dinner table is associated with fewer psychological issues and higher academic success in children and boosted family sociability.
